AnimalDex Privacy Policy

AnimalDex ("AnimalDex," "we," "our," or "the app") is a mobile product focused on AI-assisted animal identification, collectible wildlife cards, and community discovery features. This page explains what information the app may process and why.

What AnimalDex Does

AnimalDex helps users scan animals, save sightings, grow a collection, browse community captures, and unlock richer field-guide information. Some features may also include missions, progression, credits, challenges, trades, subscriptions, and optional account services.

Information We May Process

We limit collection to what is needed to operate the product, secure accounts, and improve the experience.

  1. Account information: If you create an account, we may process your email address, Apple Sign In identifiers, display name, avatar, and authentication metadata.
  2. Capture content: When you scan or upload an animal photo, the image, related notes, and capture metadata may be stored so the app can generate analysis results, save the card to your collection, and sync it across devices.
  3. Analysis data: AnimalDex may process model outputs such as species guesses, rarity context, setting, score, battle stats, and field-guide information associated with a capture.
  4. Optional location data: If you allow location access, AnimalDex may attach approximate or precise capture coordinates and environmental context to improve regional classification, set matching, and the saved sighting record.
  5. Usage and diagnostics: We may process app version, device type, crash logs, and operational metrics needed to maintain stability, prevent abuse, and debug failures.
  6. Commerce and entitlement data: If you buy credits or subscribe to premium features, purchase status and entitlements may be processed so the app can unlock the correct features.

How We Use Information

AnimalDex may use information to:

  1. Authenticate users and protect accounts.
  2. Run scans, save collections, and sync user data.
  3. Power community discovery, missions, challenges, trades, and other progression systems.
  4. Prevent fraud, abuse, invalid captures, or misuse of paid features.
  5. Improve model quality, product reliability, and feature design.

Third-Party Services

AnimalDex may rely on third-party infrastructure providers for hosting, authentication, storage, analytics, crash reporting, payments, notifications, or AI processing. Those providers only receive the information needed to deliver their part of the service and operate under their own privacy terms.

Retention

We retain account, capture, and operational data only as long as needed to provide the service, satisfy legitimate business needs, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, or enforce product policies.

Your Choices

You can choose not to grant optional permissions such as location or photo access, but some features may work in a reduced mode. You may also request deletion of your account and associated data, subject to legal, security, and fraud-prevention requirements.

Children

AnimalDex is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will review the request.

Changes

We may update this policy as AnimalDex evolves. When we do, we will revise the effective date on this page.
