Galleries answer 'do I still have the file?'
Lightroom, Photos, and Drive are excellent at pixels, backups, and edits. They do not know a reticulated python from a garden hose, and they should not pretend to.
A Dex answers 'what did I actually document?'
AnimalDex keeps identification, historical location, wild versus captive setting, and original media together. That is a different job from a gallery.
Use both. Edit in the gallery. Index the encounter in the Dex. Instagram import exists for archives that never left the feed.
