About this place

Hàm Thuận lies in the lowlands of southern Vietnam, inland from the Binh Thuan coast and now part of Lâm Đồng province. The author found a mix of common wildlife here: a Wandering Glider dragonfly over open ground near water, a Small Branded Swift butterfly and Western Honey Bees on flowering foliage, and a Common Myna and Common House Gecko in the built-up area. All five sightings were logged over two days in August. Insects turned up in the morning, around 9 am, while the myna and gecko were seen around 5 pm at dusk. August falls in the wet season, so mornings before heavy afternoon rain may suit insect watching. This is a virtual guide written by someone who has been there, not a tour. You get the author's notes on each species and can message the author with questions about timing and habitats. Sightings are never guaranteed, and the list reflects a short visit rather than everything that lives in the area.Read more
