About this place
Perris sits in the inland valleys of western Riverside County, in southern California. The author's sightings here come from town edges and open ground: Common Ravens and American Crows overhead, a Variegated Meadowhawk dragonfly, Western Honey Bees in wilder patches, and familiar insects around buildings, including a Green June Beetle near lights after dark and House Flies. All six sightings were made over three days in August. Most came in the afternoon, between about 1 pm and 4 pm, with one in the evening around 8 pm. August afternoons here are hot, so carry water and shade, and use the cooler evening for insects drawn to lights. This is a virtual guide written by someone who has watched wildlife in Perris and logged real sightings with photos. It is not a tour, and the author will not be there with you. You get the author's notes on each species and can chat with the author to ask questions. Sightings are never guaranteed.Read more
