About this place

Quakers Hill is a suburb in Sydney's north-west, in the Blacktown area of New South Wales. The author's sightings here come from everyday suburban habitat: lawns, gardens, grassy patches and streets. Birds that feed on the ground stand out, including Galahs, Australian Magpies, Peaceful Doves and an Australasian Pipit, along with a common earthworm found on concrete. All five sightings were made on a single day in October, in the early to mid afternoon, between about 2 and 3 pm local time. October is spring in Sydney, when many of these birds are active and feeding in the open on short grass. This is a virtual guide written by someone who has watched wildlife here, not a tour. You get the author's notes on each species and can message the author with questions about where and when they looked. Sightings are never guaranteed, and this guide reflects one short visit.Read more
