About this place
Ayer Tawar is a small town in Perak's Manjung district, inland from Lumut and the Strait of Malacca coast. The author's sightings here come from built-up and suburban areas rather than forest: an Asian water monitor around buildings, long-tailed macaques in roadside and garden trees, and even a fruit fly logged close to home. All sightings were made over three days in August 2026. The author found wildlife across the day, with one sighting at dawn, one mid-morning and one around dusk, so early and late hours are worth covering when the heat is lower. This is a virtual guide written by someone who has been there, not a tour. You get the author's notes on each species and can message the author with questions about the area. Sightings are never guaranteed, and the animals recorded here are wild and move around.Read more
