How Blitzle compares to the real Plains Zebra
Blitzle's official category is the Electrified Pokémon. AnimalDex rates its resemblance to the Plains Zebra as a strong match, meaning the design reads directly as this animal. Blitzle is a black-and-white striped foal with an electric mane. Its stripes and pony body make the plains zebra its clear base. Its mane flashes when it discharges electricity, but the body is a young zebra.
The comparison covers looks and behavior cues, not biology: Blitzle is a fictional Pokémon, while the Plains Zebra (Equus quagga) is a real mammal. On AnimalDex the real Plains Zebra scores 65 for dominance, 65 for speed, 55 for size and 42 for intelligence, out of 100, so its strongest trait is dominance.
Official category: Electrified Pokemon. This page is an AnimalDex comparison for real-animal resemblance, not an official design-origin claim.
