How Iron Hands compares to the real Mountain Gorilla
Iron Hands's official category is the Paradox Pokémon. AnimalDex rates its resemblance to the Mountain Gorilla as a broad match, meaning the animal is one influence in a largely fantasy design. Iron Hands is a robotic future Hariyama with massive arms, a humanoid wrestler design. The mountain gorilla is the nearest animal comparison, with huge arms and a powerful, heavy build.
The comparison covers looks and behavior cues, not biology: Iron Hands is a fictional Pokémon, while the Mountain Gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) is a real mammal. On AnimalDex the real Mountain Gorilla scores 90 for dominance, 45 for speed, 59 for size and 84 for intelligence, out of 100, so its strongest trait is dominance.
Official category: Paradox Pokemon. This page is an AnimalDex comparison for real-animal resemblance, not an official design-origin claim.

Mountain Gorilla Silverback teaches Silverback Center through the way mountain Gorilla silverbacks lead and protect family groups using size, displays, and social awareness more than constant aggression. Authority is strongest when protection, calm, and presence align.
How to recognize it

- Defense or display that protects access and group space
- Strength balanced by timing and energy cost
Real Mountain Gorilla facts
- Mountain Gorilla silverbacks lead and protect family groups using size, displays, and social awareness more than constant aggression.
- Authority animals show that power has costs as well as benefits
- Diet
- Plants, fish, benthic prey, or species-specific food support the authority lesson because large bodies must manage energy before they can protect or compete.
- Lifespan
- Large mammals often live for many years or decades when they survive youth and conflict; authority becomes meaningful when it can endure.
- Predators and threats
- Large predators, rival males, harsh weather, and humans can threaten even powerful animals; authority works best when it prevents unnecessary conflict.
