How Machoke compares to the real Western Lowland Gorilla
Machoke's official category is the Superpower Pokémon. AnimalDex rates its resemblance to the Western Lowland Gorilla as a broad match, meaning the animal is one influence in a largely fantasy design. Machoke is a bodybuilder-like humanoid rather than an animal design. Its massive chest, thick arms and enormous strength make a gorilla, the most powerful of the great apes, the nearest real comparison.
The comparison covers looks and behavior cues, not biology: Machoke is a fictional Pokémon, while the Western Lowland Gorilla (Gorilla gorilla gorilla) is a real primate. On AnimalDex the real Western Lowland Gorilla scores 88 for dominance, 42 for speed, 58 for size and 88 for intelligence, out of 100, so its strongest trait is dominance.
Official category: Superpower Pokemon. This page is an AnimalDex comparison for real-animal resemblance, not an official design-origin claim.
