How Patrat compares to the real Meerkat
Patrat's official category is the Scout Pokémon. AnimalDex rates its resemblance to the Meerkat as a reasonable match, meaning the animal is clear but the design mixes in other traits. Patrat is the Scout Pokemon, a small rodent-like lookout that stands upright to watch for danger. That sentry behaviour and upright pose match a meerkat.
The comparison covers looks and behavior cues, not biology: Patrat is a fictional Pokémon, while the Meerkat (Suricata suricatta) is a real mammal. On AnimalDex the real Meerkat scores 38 for dominance, 58 for speed, 14 for size and 58 for intelligence, out of 100, so its strongest trait is speed.
Official category: Scout Pokemon. This page is an AnimalDex comparison for real-animal resemblance, not an official design-origin claim.
