How Rillaboom compares to the real Western Lowland Gorilla

Rillaboom's official category is the Drummer Pokémon. AnimalDex rates its resemblance to the Western Lowland Gorilla as a reasonable match, meaning the animal is clear but the design mixes in other traits. Rillaboom grows into a hulking, broad-chested ape that pounds a tree-stump drum. That powerful build and chest-beating display point to a western lowland gorilla rather than the chimpanzee of its earlier stages.

The comparison covers looks and behavior cues, not biology: Rillaboom is a fictional Pokémon, while the Western Lowland Gorilla (Gorilla gorilla gorilla) is a real primate. On AnimalDex the real Western Lowland Gorilla scores 88 for dominance, 42 for speed, 58 for size and 88 for intelligence, out of 100, so its strongest trait is dominance.

Official category: Drummer Pokemon. This page is an AnimalDex comparison for real-animal resemblance, not an official design-origin claim.
