Questions about comparing animals

How the comparison tool works, and what the verdicts are actually based on.

Can I compare any two animals?

Yes. Any two species in the AnimalDex catalog can be matched up — that is thousands of animals, so obscure pairings like a honey badger against a wolverine work just as well as lion versus tiger.

How does the comparison get written?

Every matchup is built from the same species data behind the AnimalDex app: canonical size, speed, dominance and intelligence ratings, plus habitat and behaviour profiles. If nobody has run that pairing before, the breakdown is generated on the spot in under a minute and then published for everyone.

How accurate is the winner?

Each verdict names a clear winner with a confidence score, and it is argued scenario by scenario — open ground, ambush, water, endurance — because the answer genuinely changes with the setting. Real encounters between wild animals are rare and situational, so treat the verdict as a well-reasoned read of the biology rather than a prediction.

What if an animal is missing?

The picker only covers species indexed in AnimalDex. If a search returns nothing, that species has not been indexed yet — capture it in the app and it becomes available to compare.
